Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Just Having Fun Empty Just Having Fun

Post by Yvette Tungsten-Wells Thu Jan 15, 2015 4:55 am

Yvette was wondering around Diagon Alley, taking in all the shops that she loves going in buying things here and there. She had decided to wear a long black skirt with a long sleeved red shirt tucked into it and it was paired with her black heels, her coat is black jacket over top of the shirt. Looking at the Quidditch shop and not remembering ever had stopping there before. Shrugging her shoulders she walks across to the shop and walk in to check it out. Looking at everything that is in the shop with fascination but she knows that she would never ride a broom again after falling off the first one. Yvette still had a small love of the game of Quidditch and loved the way that they could have a lot of stuff for it. She made her way slowly around the shop when she caught the sight of someone out of the corner of her eye. Turning her head to see who it was she suddenly felt way over dressed to be in there. Stepping back out of his line of sight she felt like an idiot hiding there when he probably already saw her come in. Yvette of course hadn't seen Apollo in such a long time that she knew that she didn't look anything like she did in school. Staring at the wall in front of her debating whether or not if she was gonna go up to him and say hi.

Apollo knew that he likely could have guilted Christian into working at the shop that day, but after the Hufflepuff's accident a few years back, Apollo had tried not to be too irritable about it. Although he had handed over the deed to his twin just to be cheeky, Apollo wasn't terrible about it, truly. He had his moments, of course, but he assumed that all siblings did the same. So he had sighed heavily all morning, but made his way into Diagon Alley to make his shift as he was expected to.

When he looked up from the counter, he saw someone duck behind the shelf that held gloves and padding, and Apollo's eyebrows lifted in surprise. Who in the world? He had nearly made eye contact with her, so he knew that she had been looking in his direction before she moved, which only served to confuse him even more. He couldn't help it, really. He was curious.

So he smothered the positively self-confident smirk that had curved its way onto his lips, and stepped around from behind the counter. He wasn't really one for subtlety, which was unfortunate for whoever this girl was. As he got closer, there was something about her that struck him as familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. As he came around to her side of the shelf, Apollo leaned against the top level, he addressed her.

"Are you looking for something in particular, love? Or were you planning on watching me some more?"

Yvette slowed her breathing and hoped that he didn't see her. She shook her head knowing that she was acting stupid for ducking behind something. Seeing movement out of the corner of her eye she knew he saw. Turning to face him hoping that he didn't recognize her. Seeing him lean against the shelf next to her she knew that he had to either own the shop or knew who did. Hearing his questions she raised a single eyebrow and knew he was trying to get her to react. "Well I've never been in here before and I decided to take a look around." She said keeping her voice level. "I wasn't watching you, I just wasn't expecting to see someone I knew from Hogwarts so soon."

Yvette looked at him and hoped that he wouldn't remember her but at the same time hoped he did. "Do you own the shop? Or do you know who does?" She asked as stood there feeling like an idiot in her heels and dress clothes. "You have some great things in here for Quidditch players. This place is wonderful, I wish I came in here sooner to see all of this. It may have made me think twice about my decision of not getting back on a broom." Yvette then realized that she was kinda rambling trying to find her footing. "Sorry," she said flushing slightly as she looked down at the ground.

Apollo smirked at her assurances that she had not been looking over at him. A lie, he mused to himself, but that was okay. He was a Slytherin, after all, and he knew the benefits of doing so when the time called for it. But then she continued, and he tilted his head to the side slightly, squinting at her curiously. From Hogwarts? After a slow once-over of the woman in front of him, Apollo allowed a smile to pull at his lips - a real one, one of recognition and of understanding. He supposed that, really, she did have an excuse for looking his way, provided she was wondering after whether or not he was the person she thought he was.

"I do own it, yeah," he replied, having paused too long to respond before she continued. Was she embarrassed? Otherwise she was just asking a lot of questions, and it confused him to an extent. He was, however, amused with the idea that she might be embarrassed because he was the one who had caught her. Or, better yet, perhaps she was interested in asking those questions because she was interested in him. Apollo didn't really mind either way, if he were being honest. His smirk actually grew when he realized that she had assumed he could own a store at all. "It's sort of an... investment I've taken on with Christian."

"Wait wait," he cut in as she apologized, "how long has it been since you've flown?" Apollo asked, feeling the sudden urge to understand. He completely got why Christian didn't fly anymore, why Christian didn't play Quidditch anymore. But he was nearly surprised that the girl in her heels and dress would have ever played. And it sort of make him curious to know if she was any good. "Also, could you remind me which house you were in? You look familiar, honestly, but I'm not brilliant at doing the names-to-faces thing for other houses."

Yvette felt even more embarrassed when he smirked at her words of not looking at him. She shifted slightly one of her feet moving along the floor softly. She saw him look at her and felt even more ridiculous in her clothes she was wearing. Keeping any evidence off her face of her thoughts she looked back up at him.

"Ah I thought so," Yvette said smiling softly as she then put her arms in front of her clasping her hands together. Hearing him talk about his twin made her mind click the fact that she was indeed talking with Apollo. "Well that has to be fun being able to run your own store." She said smiling at him and wondering what made them invest in the store. "I have a question though. What made you both invest in this store? Does it have sentimental value to you? Sorry you don't have to answer that, my curiosity gets the best of me sometimes."

Blushing as he asked when she had last flown, "I haven't flown since I was in my third year at Hogwarts. I had a nasty fall, well if I wanted to get technical I was sorta knocked off my broom. I haven't had the courage to get back on because of it, I know i didn't fall far but it was enough to scare me." Yvette said softly hoping that he didn't think she was a chicken or a baby for not getting back on a broom. "I was in Hufflepuff," She said smiling softly at him.

Just Having Fun Empty Re: Just Having Fun

Apollo had been expecting the girl to blush, but she didn't, and it made him somehow interested in finding out what it might take to make her do so. That, he decided, could be kept for later, when he actually knew her better. He didn't try to be manipulative, exactly. He was just good at it. Which is why, when she asked about why he and Christian had taken on the store, a dark, almost pensive expression took over.

"It isn't that it's not fun," he began slowly, raking his fingers through his hair. "But it wasn't entirely our idea. Our father - you may have heard of him? Blaise Zabini? He really wants me to be involved in business. It comes with the territory of being the eldest l-" Apollo cut himself off before he allowed the word 'legitimate' to escape, "heir," he finished lamely. He wasn't interested in throwing out the fact that he had an illegitimate sibling, after all. It wasn't as though Apollo didn't get along with them so much as he wasn't sure if there would be retribution for his talking about it.

"Anyway, I picked the store, and Christian is sort of managing it more than I am. I'm busy with my apprenticeship at St. Mungo's part of the time, so that gets in the way a bit."

Apollo also left out the vindictive streak that had caused him to select this particular store. He had known, at the time, that it would infuriate his brother, and that had been his only real reasoning for it. But he didn't ever admit as much out loud. Not to strangers, at the very least. Her story cut through his thoughts as if she had known what he was thinking. Apollo swallowed once, then leaned against the shelf again.

"I'm sorry to hear that," he returned. He had felt a fleeting desire to convince her to go flying with him, more out of curiosity than in hopes of convincing her to buy anything, but that had been stifled somewhat. "My brother had the same problem," he admitted. "Mid Quidditch match a couple of years ago. We thought he wasn't going to make it, for a while. Or, well, his friends did. I sort of knew he'd be okay. We tend to come out of things better than we expect, after all. As a population, I mean," he clarified, his Healer side peeking through.

Realizing that it would seem strange that he had chosen the store a few years back, right after Christian's accident, Apollo paused to consider why they still owned it. He didn't feel so vindictive or ironic anymore. Perhaps it was more that "I've sort of been working on making the equipment safer, as much as I've been able." He realized belatedly that it wasn't untrue, but he had been doing it without thinking about it. Strange, he mused to himself, a small smile appearing on his lips. It had just sort of... happened.

"It's a shame," he added in an attempt to change the subject with ease, instead of focusing on his weird act of what might seem like charity, "that you don't want to go flying. The view over the British countryside is actually magnificent. I think you'd enjoy it more than you imagine."

Yvette listened and understood exactly what he was saying. "Yeah I understand what your saying completely. My family is much more different than yours though. They want me to get married be a stay at home wife with kids and be happy with it. They think that I can't stand on my own two feet and that I need their help to do so." She said then blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry, I really need to work on my brain to mouth filter." Her blush deepened as looked to the floor.

"Well that sounds really great that your an apprenticing at St Mungos." She said smiling at him trying to avoid her words she had just spoken.

"Well I've always wanted to try again but every time I do I get nervous." Yvette said softly rubbing one of her arms because goosebumps were on her lower arms. Quickly so he wouldn't see but slow enough that it look like it was a gesture she put them behind her back. "Well I hope that he was able to get back on a broom." She said looking at him curiously.

"Really? Is it possible to do that?" She asked her interest peeked at the idea of making the equipment for flying safer.

"It's not that I don't want to go flying it's just my nerves about it," She said looking at him. "That sounds like fun actually to fly above the country side. It has to be lovely to see from the air," Yvette said just imagining what it would be like.
