Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Catalina stepped through the portrait hole and into the Ravenclaw common room, wondering how long it would take for her to actually feel comfortable here. Since she did not really understand what it meant to be comfortable, she decided that once she could laugh and smile freely, she would comprehend.

Finding a warm spot on the floor, she lay next to the fireplace and opened up one of the books she had checked out from the library labeled Potions and Concoctions. Potions was one of her favorite subjects and she couldn't wait until she got started in that class.

Sliding her shoes off, she pushed them over to the side and got situated on the rather soft floor. Her brown waves rippled around her face, causing her porcelain countenance to revel with elegant beauty.

Davina was sitting in front of the fireplace in one of the big, blue comfortable arm chairs. She was reading a book called Hogwarts, A History. She hadn't been set it in a lesson or anything, she was just reading it for pleasure. She loved reading.

There weren't many people in the common room. Davina looked up and was surprised to see a girl lying on the floor between her chair and the fireplace. She hadn't even noticed her come in. She wasn't sure whether to say anything to her. She looked to be in the middle of reading.

Putting a bookmark in her book, Davina lay the book down on her lap. "Uhm, hi. I'm Davina." she introduced herself to the girl. She wasn't sure exactly what to say. She never had the best social skills. Plus, the other girl was so pretty it was intimidating to Davina.

Um, hi. I'm Davina. Catalina jumped, turning her head to find the perpetrator of her thoughts. Seeing a girl sitting in the armchair just beside her. She had long dark hair, with eyes indistinguishable from blue or gray or were they green? Catalina could not tell.

With a well-prepared smile, she sat up straight, as was her manner, and stuck out her hand in reach of Davina. "It is always a pleasure, Davina. I am Catalina."

Waiting for Davina to take her hand, she kept the grin plastered across her face, a mixture of kindness and joy written on the elegant countenance. They would never know it was a facade. Only Zoe was close to knowing, and Catalina knew she had to be more careful or she would become fragile again.

[[OOC: Don't have time to switch accounts, sorry. My post will be short too. Sorry again.]]

Davina reached out and shook Catalina's hand. "Nice to meet you too," she replied politely. She had never been any good at starting conversations.

Catalina had dark wavey hair, although Davina didn't notice this. Davina never paid too much attention to what people looked like. She was paying more attention to the book that she was reading, a Potions book she had read a couple of times before.

"Good book." she commented.

OOC: No no! It's fine!

IC:

Good book. Catalina noticed Davina looking at the book on the floor in front of her rather than at her features, which was a nice relief. Someone that also enjoyed reading as much as her? Possibly. It wasn't likely that most enjoyed reading books about potions for fun.

She smiled. "Yes, I adore the Art of Potions. Severus Snape was one of my idols. Such a tragedy when The Dark Lord killed him. What is your favorite class?"

[[OOC: Remember Voldemort's name is Tabooed so people can't say it.]]

Davina looked at Catalina curiously. She wondered if she had just found someone who liked reading and studying as much as her. This would be a first, she thought to herself. Even most of the Ravenclaws didn't study and read as much as her. Most of them 'had a life', as they would call it.

Davina paused to think for a moment before she answered Catalina's question. "That's a hard one. I like all of my subjects, well, except Divination which is a load of rubbish. I think my favourite is either Transfiguration or Potions though. I can't decide between them though, I love them both" she told Catalina. "Snape was amazing. He made some huge break-throughs in Potions. Apparently, one of his old Potions books with his notes in it is still somewhere in the school."[/b] she finished off, her eyes straying towards the book once more.

That's a hard one. I like all of my subjects, well, except Divination which is a load of rubbish. I think my favourite is either Transfiguration or Potions though. I can't decide between them though, I love them both Catalina nodded in agreement. "I have always hated Divination. I agree with you completely. Really? I love all of them as well. Potions is definitely my favorite, but I think Charms or Astronomy would have to be a close second."

She threw Davina a dazzling smile before noticing that she was still looking down at the book beneath her. "Would you like to look at it?" she asked, still grinning.

Snape was amazing. He made some huge break-throughs in Potions. Apparently, one of his old Potions books with his notes in it is still somewhere in the school. Catalina nodded, completely agreeing. "Oh, yes. That is one of the reasons I love him so much. The Half-Blood Prince," she murmured, her eyes slightly fogging as she tried to imagine where that book would be.

[[OOC: Sorry I can't remember, what year are you in?]]

BIC:
Davina was astonished to find somebody with the same views as her. Even most Ravenclaws weren't as studious and, well, geeky as herself. "Yes, I do love Astronomy as well. I think it's amazing seeing everything out in the universe. There is so much out there, our planet it like nothing in comparision to it." she replied, completely agreeing with everything that Catalina had just said.

"Yes please," she said, longing for a look at the book. She hoped that she hadn't been too obvious or wasn't being anti-social by asking to look at a book in the middle of a conversation. That was what Davina was like though, and nothing could change that about herself.

Davina gazed at the book, thinking about Snape. "Yes, the Half-Blood Prince..." she said, her voice trailing off towards the end. She looked back up towards Catalina. "Wouldn't it be so cool if we found his old Potions book around Hogwarts somewhere." she thought aloud, her eyes lighting up at the thought of finding the book and notes of one of her idols.

Yes, I do love Astronomy as well. I think it's amazing seeing everything out in the universe. There is so much out there, our planet it like nothing in comparison to it. Catalina nodded slowly, saying, "Yes, I completely concur. I love all of the constellations especially. Their names are my favorite, mostly when you look at them in different languages to see what they all mean."

Yes please. Catalina grinned at her earnestness and handed over the book she had situated beneath herself.

Yes, the Half-Blood Prince...Wouldn't it be so cool if we found his old Potions book around Hogwarts somewhere. Catalina's blue eyes sparkled with excitement, and she murmured, "Yes. We should go and search for it together. It would be terribly fun."

OOC: She's a sixth year.

[[OOC: Sorry it took me a while. If I take a while in future, PM me please!! I feel bad about forgetting...]]

Davina seemed to be getting on with Catalina. They were on the same level. "Yes, and how the names came about and how they change over time just like other aspects of languages." she agreed, probably sounding very over-excited about something as simple as constellations.

Davina took the book, grinning. She ran her finger over the name 'Severus Snape' on the cover of the book before opening it and looking over the contents. She didn't want to seem to anti-social by reading all the time though. Besides, she wanted to talk about Severus Snape. "I really need to check this book out sometime." she said, mainly to herself.

Davina then quickly turned back to Catalina. "Yeah, that would be really fun! Imagine if we found it and there were lots of notes and tips from him inside it. That would be so cool, to learn from Snape..." she replied excitedly, her face showing her enthusiasm. She trailed off slightly towards the end though, daydreaming of the day that they found the book. Ohh, the book.
