Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Lecture One: Thirds, Fourths and Fifths Empty Lecture One: Thirds, Fourths and Fifths

Keiran strode into class early, bringing with him a bag that he sat on the desk that took up the majority of the front of his classroom. Behind it, the chalkboard still had notes from his earlier lecture, so he waved his wand at it and watched for a moment as it cleared. This class, he was sure, would be more fun than the earlier one, though not necessarily as informative or simple. He could already feel the frustration of the students as they attempted the task he was going to set them.

Regardless, he was still pulling things from his bag when the students began to file in, probably bewildered by the sheer number of teacups he was setting onto the space in front of him. That, and the fact that they were coming out of a bag that so clearly should not have held that many things. Probably not even three of the teacups, actually, looked small enough to fit inside. Regardless, he nearly covered the table with them before finally looking up at the students to being the class.

"For today's class, we're going to be having a competition. First, second and third place students will win points for their houses, but only if the spells are completed correctly. Each of you will need to retrieve a teacup from the table and take it back to your seat. Then, we'll be working on a spell that transforms these teacups into tortoises."

He gestured towards the table, waiting for them to pick up one each, and then went on. "The motion for this is going to be a diagonal and to the downwards-right motion, followed by lifting your hand up, and then the same sideways and down to the right motion. If you do it correctly, your wand will create a flash of blue light as the change occurs. If you end up with a teacup with legs or some other strange creature, let me know and I will change it back for you so that you can try again. Do try not to hurt whatever little thing you make, as they are indeed alive once the spell is completed."

Keiran took the remaining teacup and performed the spell for them as an example.

"Afterwords, we'll be working on the Doubling Charm. We won't be cursing our turtles, so don't fear that they'll continually multiply. We only want two animals each by the end of it, which we'll race for the fun of it. Only successful transfigurations by the last ten minutes of lecture will be able to compete, but you'll have two chances to win those points. So let's get started with the teacups, shall we?"

[OOC: Your student has been attending this class for several years, but the material they're learning should still be new and challenging for them. They can and SHOULD fail, probably at least once, before they start to get the hang of things. This thread is designed to last a while, but if it starts dying and we want another one, I can see to that. FIFTH YEARS: note that your student is preparing for their OWLs, and that may or may not make them work harder this year.]
