Stephen stood where he was being just close enough to be part of the conversation. He glanced at Christian a mite before answering with what he knew.

"The Unforgivable Curses are a group of three different curses classified as Dark Magic for centuries. Therefore, forbidden and worthwhile of a life sentence in prison should someone use them on anyone else. As it is, they represent a very powerful magic so to cast them it would take a very experienced wizard or witch but also, given the darkness of these curses, one must truly succumb to the malevolent purposes they implicate and truly desire harm to the opponent." He said. "Or so I read" he added just in case he was by that misunderstood. He spent a lot of time in the library and this kind of information weren't exactly restricted. Just mentioned briefly in several books scattered around the shelves.

Terry smiled at that reply. He had not expected much different.

"That's very good," he replied. "Very close. But what you're describing is the focus of your spell. To make a feather levitate you have to really want it to levitate, don't you?"

"The Unforgivables are unique in one important way. Desire isn't enough, there has to be pleasure as well. Have you ever wondered why you hear stories about Bellatrix Lestrange using the Cruciatus Curse, but hardly any about all the people she killed?"

Stephen tilted his head and nodded. If he was putting it like that. But then again, every spell would work that way. "i suppose so" he said.

The question got him thinking and the answers that immediately popped up were nothing but grim. "Probably she would take pleasure from doing just that..." he dared though in a low tone of voice. He didn't get how that could be funny...

"I always thought it was because she was just a bit dim," Christian piped up. "The Dark Mark just tells people the Death Eaters were there, not which ones. If you want a reputation, you need to leave an eyewitness."

"I mean, an eyewitness who isn't raving."

Stephen nodded a little at that. It made some sense but from what he knew there weren't that many people eager to speak up about what has happened to them... Well, that alone already made quite the reputation.
