Welcome to Potter’s Army

Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

This thread will give you all the information you need about Hogwarts at Potters Army.

ENROLLING

Getting into Hogwarts is easy, you just need to make an application (your character has to be between 11 to 17) and state two houses. The admins will sort you in one of the houses, then you will be able to post at Hogwarts.

CLASSES

The most important part of Hogwarts is the classes. The classes are located on different floors or, in the case of Herbology and Care of magical creatures, at the grounds. At first, you will not be able to post in any class. You first have to apply for classes at the claims section. Once the admins sort you in the classes of your choice, you will be able to post there.

At classes you can interact with other students and you will also often have to participate in group activities with them. Classes are a great place to earn house points for your house as well as sickles for yourself.

You can apply for classes here.

HOUSES AND HOUSE POINTS

PA has the same houses as the HP canon - Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. The admins will sort you into one of these houses after accepting your application (usually the house they believe your character fits in). Each house at Hogwarts has a common room that only the people in the house usergroup are able to see. You can role-play here in the dormitories, or apply for the quidditch team!

There is also the inter-house championship. This is based on house points which you get for attending classes, answering questions there and winning quidditch matches.

QUIDDITCH

Throughout the school year we hold quidditch matches between the houses. There are 6 matches in total starting with Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. Whichever house wins the most matches wins the house cup as well as 150 points to their house per match. To know more about our quidditch system, click here.

OTHER PLACES AT HOGWARTS

As well as all those mentioned above, there are many many other subforums to role-play at. These include the library, the headmasters office, the owlery (to send IC messages), the lake (the place where most students hang out during weekends), the forbidden forest (which is off limits, but you can enter at your own risk) and the dueling arena. The dueling arena is where students can have duels with one another and practice their spells. Practicing here takes you higher up on the tier list as well as giving the dueling abiliity. To learn more about that click here.

EXAMS

At the end of the term, usually during May, the admins will close all classes and the teachers will post the exams. These are tests based on the classes you have taken. These exams are not obligatory for all students, but a large part of your Hogwarts mark is taken away if you do not do them.

EVENTS AT HOGWARTS

There are loads of events at Hogwarts throughout the year. Ideally, there is at least one for every month. These usually are:

September: Homecoming
October: Halloween Party - 1st Quidditch Match
November: Masquerade Ball - 2nd Quidditch Match
December: Yule Ball
January: New Years Party
February: Valentines Day Dance - 3rd Quidditch Match
March: 4th Quidditch Match
April: Spring Dance - 5th Quidditch match
May: Exams - 6th Quidditch Match
June - July: Graduation party/dance.

SUMMER

During Summer - from July to September - you are not allowed to post at Hogwarts. Instead, there are several summer events you can attend such as the train journey and traveling anywhere in the world.

After Hogwarts

The marks which you graduated with will be listed at your profile after the 7th year. After the graduation party, your username color will be changed to orange, offically making you a graduate. As a graduate, you will be able to join an adult faction and will be able to apply for a job. To read more about jobs, click here.
